An experienced Head of English and maths at Leeds City College, Jonny has successfully led one of the largest departments in the North for a number of years, to great success. With a focus on best practice in feedback and marking within English, Jonny’s engaging session makes high quality feedback and streamlining of workload a priority.


Stuart Eaves, Assistant Principal (King Edward VI College)

The English and maths AI Classroom

With 15 years of experience in secondary, sixth form and FE, as both a teacher and a senior leader, Stuart has a wide breadth of knowledge and deep understanding of the education landscape. He is Assistant Principal at King Edward VI College, Stourbridge and a former Head of Quality & TLA and Ofsted Nominee at Kidderminster College (NCG Group). Stuart’s session will focus on AI best practice in the English and maths classroom.


Jonny Kay – National Education Lead (Create Development), Author, Consultant

Leading in English and maths: Achieving Impact

A former Head of E&M in multiple colleges, Jonny successfully led teams which achieved some of the best results in England whilst also working as a lead English expert for AQA. As an NPQ facilitator, author and Governor, Jonny also works as a consultant, leading CPD in colleges on topics including behaviour, assessment and individualisation. Jonny’s sessions will look at the simple and effective solutions to the significant challenges of E&M leadership.


Rosie Sharp, Vice Principal (Eastleigh College)

Assessment and Individualisation in English and maths

Rosie Sharp has worked in Post-16 Education for over two decades. Starting in youth work, she led Entry to Employment programmes before moving into FE to teach and lead in English and Maths. As a former CfEM Lead, she collaborated on national initiatives and completed research on maths intervention and growth mindset. Rosie’s session will look at streamlining and individualising assessment to support students to succeed and progress.


Mark Stewart, National Maths Lead (Create Development), Consultant

Rapid and Sustained Progress in Maths: A Flipped Learning Approach

With over 15 years’ experience in Further Education, Mark has vast experience as a maths teacher, leader and trainer. Having successfully led maths departments and developed innovative and impactful teaching & learning strategies, he is a former CfEM lead, specialising in tech, contextualisation and teaching for mastery research strands. As National Maths Lead for Create Development, Mark now delivers bespoke training and innovation to colleges nationally.


Dr Ellie Willard, Senior Lecturer in Psychology (Leeds Beckett University)

Resilience in English and maths: making the difference

A chartered psychologist and former secondary teacher, Ellie completed a PhD in Mathematics difficulties and Dyscalculia before moving into post as Senior lecturer in Psychology at Leeds Beckett University (researching SEND, well-being and barriers to learning). Particularly interested in mitigating barriers to success in education using innovative techniques, she is currently working as Monitoring and Evaluation Lead on a large DfE project. Ellie’s session will focus on the simply applied strategies to support resilience and achievement in all English and maths classrooms.


Empowering Student Success: Innovative Strategies for English and Math Intervention Support with Get Further

In this session, Get Further’s Curriculum Leads will share innovative strategies to support students during English and maths intervention. Based around key curriculum principles and model snippets, the team will share the evidence-informed approaches and sector leading professional development tools used to upskill tutors. With time also spent showcasing the positive impact these interventions have on FE students' confidence, motivation and academic performance, this session will support teachers and leaders to get the very best out of bespoke intervention whilst addressing challenges such as capacity, attendance, quality of teaching and progression.
